Adams hosts 13th Annual “Be True to Your School” 5K

The 13th Annual “Be True to Your School” 5K was held on Saturday, August 5 at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve. Area schools and local runners could run hard to take top honors in the 5K challenge race or maintain a fun walk pace to support the nonprofit. Even a few bicycles and four-legged friends took part in the run.

Volunteers needed to help kids who have been abused, neglected

Everyday people are needed to help improve the lives of children experiencing foster care. The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program pairs volunteers with local children who are part of the child welfare system to ensure the children’s best interests are being met and they are getting the services and care they need.

Locals ride in RAGBRAI 2023

The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, or known to all as simply RAGBRAI, occurred from July 23 to July 29. Many locals from Dakota Dunes and North Sioux City took part in this epic event which also was celebrating 50 years.

Don’t count them out. That’s the theme for the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies Post 134 Senior Legion baseball team. They entered the 2023 South Dakota American Legion State Class “B” Sr. Baseball Tournament Friday, July 28 in Redfield, SD.

Suicidal male subject stopped on I-29

A 44-year-old male was stopped at mile marker 14 on Southbound I-29 early Tuesday morning, July 25 around 7:30 a.m. The male, from Watertown, SD, was reported to be a suicidal individual who had planned on committing suicide by cop.

CNOS supports local youth athletes

CNOS was excited to join forces this year and be a part of the Siouxland Youth Sports Camp which occurred this past Friday, July 28. Siouxland Youth Sports Camp was held in conjunction with The Arena, United Sports Academy/CNOS Fieldhouse, and Long Lines Family Rec Center.

Suicide outside city of Elk Point

An individual born in 1990 from Sioux Falls, SD, was found hanged in their vehicle outside of Elk Point, Monday evening, July 24 around 8:30 p.m. The individual was found at the intersection of Highway 11 and 324th Street by a local person.
