Dakota Valley wrestles at Elk Point-Jefferson, Sioux Falls Washington

Four pins were recorded for the Panther wrestling team versus Elk Point-Jefferson on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Add on some wins by forfeit and wins by decision and it was a team dual victory for DV by a score of 45-34.

Dakota Valley Panthers hold Youth Wrestling tournament

The Panther Wrestling Club hosted their annual youth tournament at Dakota Valley on Saturday, Feb. 10. There were over 200 young wrestlers in attendance. The DV high school wrestling team, as well as some college wrestlers, served as referees. There were also multiple volunteers on-hand to work the gate, concessions, scorekeeper’s table, weigh-ins and more.

County sells Alcester Steakhouse

After almost two years of owning the Alcester Steakhouse, the Union County Board of County Commissioners approved a purchase offer of $205,000 from Harvey and Rita Nolt at their meeting Feb. 6. The commissioners approved Commission Chairman Milton Ustad and Vice Chairman Rich Headid to sign the purchase agreement.

Red-tagged buildings on Jefferson High School property clarified

The recent purchase agreement of the former Jefferson High School property was discussed at the Jefferson City Council meeting Feb. 5. After a brief executive session for legal matters, the council listened as City Attorney Sabrina LaFleur-Sayler outlined the specific requirements of the agreement.

A new group wishes to welcome newborn babies and their families into the world. Union Country Right to Life has decided to begin a new program for newborn babies. The group wishes for expecting mothers in Union County to inform them of their due dates so they can help welcome your baby into the world. The program is only eligible for residents living within Union County.
