While the Huskies competed hard all year long, their season wasn’t meant to continue past the first round of regions as they fell to the Vermillion Tanagers 74 to 68 on Feb. 27.

Panthers fight hard at state tournament, Boonstra places 3rd

Much success was observed by the Panther wrestlers at state on Feb. 22, 23 and 24 in Sioux Falls. Dakota Valley represented their school and the wrestling program well in front of large crowds at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Dakota Valley Panther boys head into post-season

It was a long road trip on President’s Day for the Panther boys basketball team as they traveled to Groton despite no school being in session on Monday, Feb. 19th. It was a tight 1st half with the score tied at 29 after the 2nd quarter. However, Groton pulled away on their home court and DV took the loss 54-71.

Panther girls basketball season ends in Lennox

The first game of Class A regional play for the Panther girls basketball team was at Lennox on Tuesday, Feb. 20. It was a barn burner contest with Dakota Valley as the underdog at the #5 seed in Region 4. Lennox hosted and was seeded 4th.

Dakota Valley athletes contribute to successful hockey season

Twenty-eight wins and four losses of regular season play secured not only the League Champion Title for the Sioux City Metros, but a spot in the National Tournament held in Pennsylvania March 20-24. First the Metros set their sites on defending the title of State Tournament Champions earned in the 22-23 tournament. As number one seed, the Varsity team will join seven other teams from the MHSHL (Midwest High School Hockey League) at the West Des Moines MidAmerican Company RecPlex the weekend of March 1. The league features teams from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas.

No election to be held for Elk Point

The City of Elk Point had four seats up for election on their city council. However, no election will have to be held come April as only one petition was returned for each seat.

Jefferson to hold city election

The City of Jefferson will hold an election in April for the city council seat in Ward I. Petitions had to be turned in to City Hall by 1 p.m.
