Dakota Valley coach Kleis earns three hundredth win

It was a packed house for the Panther boys away basketball game versus Elk Point-Jefferson on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Dakota Valley started a bit slow, but came on big as the game progressed to win 66-39. The evening and the victory was extra special as it was the 300th career win for DV Head Coach Jason Kleis.

Dakota Valley Panther esports qualifies 30 for state

South Dakota’s 1st sanctioned regular season for esports concluded for the Panthers on Thursday, February 6, 2025. It was a stellar 8 weeks of play by Dakota Valley as they qualified 30 for the state tournament in Aberdeen on February 14-15, 2025.

Panther wrestlers overcome injuries, compete well

Wrestlers at Dakota Valley were very busy during a 3 day stretch of matches, duals and tournaments. First up was a contest, in Nebraska, on Thursday, February 6, 2025. A good crowd was in attendance as the Panther Wrestling youth club joined the DV high schoolers to show support and also wrestle some bouts against Ponca and Homer.

Jefferson council discusses upcoming elections

The Jefferson City Council convened for its regular meeting on February 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, drawing a quorum of council members, including Mayor P. Rigg, T. Boulware, J. Casper, M. LaFleur, J. Lokhorst, and M. Stokely. Also present were city officials and members of the community.

Schonebaum elected to Beadle Club

Superintendent Philip Schonebaum was elected as a South Dakota Beadle Club member at 10:30 am on February 5 in Pierre, South Dakota. The purpose of the Beadle Club is to signally honor selected individuals in South Dakota who have given meritorious service in the cause of education over the years. This service must be aside from and in addition to their regular contributions made in their official capacities.

City to maintain current library operations

The Elk Point City Council regular session was held on February 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m, presided over by Mayor McCreary. All council members were present, including Abraham, Irwin, Penfield, Irlbeck, Hurlbert, and VonHaden, along with City Attorney Thompson, City Administrator Tuttle, Police Chief Limoges, Public Works Director Job, and Finance Officer Hammitt.

EPJ Husky wrestlers have three dual sweep

It was a 3 dual sweep for the Huskies in wrestling on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The victories were made even more sweet because they occurred at home during Elk Point-Jefferson’s “Senior Night” for wrestling.

Strong competition and fierce court battles occurred for the talented Elk Point-Jefferson girls basketball roster to usher in the month of February. It all started in Lennox on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
