    The North Sioux City Commission approved two medical cannabis ordinance updates, an Economic Development Administration grant application and several financial actions during its Feb. 17 regular meeting.

    EPJ pushes Centerville to the buzzer in tight contest

    Senior Anthony Tatro secured the first point for the Huskies in their away game versus the Centerville Tornadoes on Monday, February 16, 2026. It was a fast paced game where every point mattered. It was tied at 8-8 before Centerville was able to hit a couple of 3s to garner an advantage. However, the Huskies grabbed back 4 points as time dwindled in the 1st quarter. The Tornadoes converted on a final shot and it was 12-16 to begin the 2nd.

    EPJ qualifies five for state wrestling tournament

    The culmination of a ton of hard work in the regular season all came to a head for the Elk Point-Jefferson wrestling team as they hosted girls and boys regional contests for 2026. Region 2B brackets for the girls competed on Thursday, February 19, 2026 and the boys hit the mats on February 21, 2026.

    The Elk Point‑Jefferson Edu‑cational Foundation and the Chili Cup Committee are preparing for the 15th annual Chili Cup fun‑draiser, set for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Pointe Golf & Event Center.

    Grapplers battle EPJ, rebound with Vermillion win

    Two duals were on the docket for Panther high school wrestling as they traveled to Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) on February 10, 2026 and to Sioux Falls (SF) Washington on February 12, 2026. Versus the EPJ Huskies, Dakota Valley fell in team scoring 38-40. While in Sioux Falls they faced SF Washington and Vermillion to garner a split of 1 team win and 1 defeat.

    Panthers stun Tanagers behind hot shooting

    The Panther boys varsity team hosted the Vermillion Tanagers on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. It was a tied game, in the 2nd quarter, at 27-27. Tatum Sorensen, a Dakota Valley senior, then took off with some explosive shots that allowed DV to go on a run late in the 1st half. The Panthers made the most of the last 2 minutes in the 2nd quarter to build a 40-27 lead. Vermillion made 2 free throws with 1 second to go until halftime, but energy stayed incredibly high for DV.
