Panthers stack two big wins in DAK XII play

    Panther softball squared off against a couple of DAK XII conference opponents on back-to-back nights in mid-May. Great games were played with Dakota Valley (DV) being the victor in both contests. They bested West Central (WC) on Monday, May 11, 2026 in an away game. They mercy ruled Lennox, at home, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

    Pink in the Park returns for 5th year

    The Elk Point Pink Ladies will host their fifth annual Pink in the Park Activity and Ven‑dor Fair on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Elk Point City Park. The community event features a mix of family activities, food options and local ven‑dors.

    Panthers close home slate in style with 14–0 win

    In their last regular season home game, Dakota Valley baseball garnered a big win on May 11, 2026. It was senior night and the Panthers outscored Elk Point-Jefferson 14-0 in 5 innings. Seniors Sterling Schauff and Grady Ramos were dominant on the mound as they combined for 7 strikeouts.

    Flame of hope carried through Elk Point

    Law enforcement officers, Special Olympics athletes and community members took part in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in Elk Point on Monday, car‑rying the “flame of hope” through town in support of Special Olympics South Da‑kota.

    DV dominates in 13–0 shutout over Bon Homme

    The weather was chilly plus windy, but the Dakota Valley (DV) softball team did not look cold as they rolled to a 13-0 victory over Bon Homme on Monday, May 4, 2026. The game would end after the top of the 5th due to the mercy rule.

    DV shines with golds at Lennox, First Dakota Relays

    Excellent finishes were recorded by the Panther track team on May 5, 2026 at the Lennox Invite. Four golds were secured by Dakota Valley, as well as many silver and bronze medals.

    Panthers surge past Canton with 12‑run outing

    Twelve runs and 8 hits by the Dakota Valley (DV) baseball team was more than enough to get it done in the win over Canton on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Panther senior Noah Graham was fierce on the mound as he allowed only 3 hits and 1 earned run. Graham sat down 9 batters with strikeouts.

    Panthers write their next chapter

    It was a busy two days for Dakota Valley’s Class of 2026. On Friday, May 8, 2026 a senior breakfast was hosted in the high school with a rehearsal for graduation happening afterwards. In the late morning, students then took sidewalk chalk outside to decorate the cement near the high school building. Students drew mascots, military service marks, and workforce emblems in order to highlight and answer the question of “Where Are You Going?” Many future Jackrabbits and Coyotes were spotted as students plan to attend in-state schools.

    Post 319 sets Memorial Day services

    American Legion Post 319 of North Sioux City will hold its Memorial Day services on Monday, with ceremonies at 10 a.m. at McCook Lake Cemetery and 10:30 a.m. at Civil Bend Cemetery. Members of the post will offer brief remarks and honors at each site as part of the community’s annual observance. The public is invited to attend.

    Join the Dakota Valley Business Council for a Meet & Greet with North Sioux City Commission candidates on Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00 PM at North Sioux City Hall. Candidates Jeff Myers and Vincent Tucker have been invited to participate.
