County terminates contract for jail meals

The Union County Board of County Commissioners listened to concerns raised from Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges and Secretary Tracy Smith about the meals being provided to inmates at their meeting June 27.

Dakota Valley Panthers go 2-2 in recent games

A stretch of games surrounded the 4th of July holiday for the Dakota Valley Legion team as the roster ended June and jumped right into July match-ups. A 7-1 victory versus the Tea TinCaps got the string of games started for the Panthers on June 30.

Adapting Animals

Adapting Animals Nature Camp was held at the Adams Nature Preserve on June 27th, June 28th and June 29th. It was a hot three days for the campers, ages 8-10 years old, but a lot of enjoyment was had as they learned about a variety of animals and how they adapt in different surroundings.

The Noise Guy visits North Sioux City library

Vocal sound impressionist and entertainer, Charlie Williams, visited the North Sioux City library on Thursday, June 29. A full room of children, parents and librar y patrons watched the 45 minute show during week five of the summer reading program.

RAGBRAI departure route announced

More than 25,000 cyclists will depart Sioux City Sunday, July 23 for the 50th annual Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). A recommended route has been identi_ed by the Sioux City RAGBRAI Public Safety committee.

Warriors take 1st place

On Wednesday, June 28th youth participants in the summer PGA Junior golf league at Two Rivers Golf Course competed in a league championship day. The Warriors took home 1st place honors and the Tigers were runner-ups.
