Improvements still a priority

The priorities which led Paddy Rigg to run for the Ward 2 city council seat haven’t changed since becoming mayor in May. Rigg still wishes to see community improvements, especially the park and dilapidated properties.

Johnson announces service academy appointments

U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson announced six South Dakotans have accepted Service Academy appointments. They will begin military training at their respective schools at the end of June. The Congressman nominated each student in December 2022; they received appointment offers between December 2022 and May 2023.

Dakota Valley falls to Vermillion

On Wednesday, June 28 the Panther Legion baseball team played Vermillion Post 1 in a battle that had Dakota Valley losing 7-14 at home. The game started quick for Vermillion as they drove in a run during their 1st at bat.

North Sioux City Summer Rec held throughout June

The City of North Sioux City Parks and Recreation held its annual Summer Recreation program June 5 through June 28. This year, the program was capped at 50 participants. People who live in North Sioux City, McCook Lake or Dakota Dunes can participate in this program.

The Izaak Walton League held their annual Youth Fishing Derby at McCook Lake Saturday, June 17. This year, 74 kids attended and ranged in ages from 2 up to age 18.
