State won’t seek death penalty

On June 29 at the Arraignment hearing for Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales, the court directed the State of South Dakota to file a written notice on whether it would seek the death penalty. The state needed to make its determination by Aug. 14.

Panther Cheer competes in first competition

The Panther competitive cheer team held their own in Yankton on Thursday, Sept. 7 as they faced many larger Class AA schools. Eleven schools would be competing at the cheer event. In addition to Dakota Valley, there was also: Sioux Falls (SF) Jefferson, O’Gormon, SF Washington, SF Roosevelt, SF Lincoln, Yankton, Bon Homme, Mitchell, Brookings and Harrisburg.
