It is again that time of year when taxpayers will be receiving a tax bill and an assessment notice. The tax statement comes from the Treasurer’s office and the assessment notice comes from the Assessor’s office. Even though these notices come within a month of each other, they are for separate years. The tax bill you received is for the 2023 tax year payable in 2024. The assessment notice is for the 2024 tax year payable in 2025.

Once again, the Husky boys struggled from the charity stripe and gave up a lot of free points against Ponca and Tea Area. It was a close contest in Nebraska Feb.

The girls played hard this week, but lost two close contests to Centerville Feb. 12 and Tea Area Feb.

Monday, Feb. 5 was the start of week 8 for the Panthers in Esports.

Mark Leinweaver has been travelling a lot lately to deliver his message of “Why Character Matters” which places an emphasis on anti-bullying and social media awareness. He speaks to students throughout the country on this matter. Dakota Valley was his stop on Friday, Feb. 9 as Leinweaver discussed the importance of being accountable and being selfless.

Dakota Valley boys basketball hosted the Vermillion Tanagers on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

The North Sioux City City Council was greeted with a room full of people at their meeting Feb. 5. It wouldn’t be until a few minutes into the meeting that the council would understand why there was such interest in this particular meeting.

Top ranked Vermillion came to Dakota Valley on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and the Panther girls basketball team was ready.
