History in the making: Girls defeat SFC, down Garretson

    It was an incredible evening for Panther girls soccer on Tuesday, Sept. 5 as Dakota Valley beat Sioux Falls Christian for the first time since the start of the DV girls soccer program. The score would be a 2-1 victory that happened in epic fashion.

    Getting a good night’s rest, which consists of four to five sleep cycles, allows our bodies, brains and emotions to perform at the optimum level. In fact, sleep affects our growth and stress hormones, immune system, breathing, blood pressure and heart health. All of us have experienced a day following a poor night’s sleep, but, if lack of sleep continues consistently it can greatly impact us and can dramatically affect our children.

    Council approves $25K in appropriations to MLA

    At a previous council meeting on July 24, the council had tabled a $50,000 appropriation request from the McCook Lake Association. The North Sioux City City Council revisited the item at their Sept. 5 meeting.

    World record breaking event

    Dakota Valley alum and current Wayne State College volleyball player, Ally Beresford, was a part of history on Wednesday, Aug. 30 as the world record for the largest crowd to watch a women’s sports event was smashed. A reported 92,003 were on hand for the epic volleyball event.

    The Union County Board of County Commissioners held a brief, regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5.
