The Huskies travelled to Hurley, SD to face the Viborg-Hurley Cougars in a non-region contest Dec. 20.
Panthers fall short

Close quarters with the game always within reach was the theme for the match-up between the Dakota Valley girls basketball roster and Hartington Cedar Catholic on Tuesday, Dec. 20. In what was a tight contest, the Panthers fell short by a score of 45-51.
Bringing cheer to Embassy Rehab & Care Center residents

For weeks Dakota Valley students in 4th through 8th grade have been gathering donations for Embassy Care & Rehab Center in Sergeant Bluff, IA. It was a community service project that brought a lot of holiday cheer to all.
EPJ students blessed with new shoes

All students in the Elk Point-Jefferson School District were the recipients of new shoes thanks to a local church. Beacon Church in Elk Point held a fundraising to raise money to donate 700 pairs of shoes to the students of Elk Point-Jefferson.

“I once read that part of a person’s legacy will be how they have set up their successors to succeed.” Terri Chicoine After 32 years, a integral part of the Elk Point-Jefferson School District will be walking through the doors for the last time and into a new norm of retired life. Terri Chicoine, the Elk Point-Jefferson Business Manager, has seen a lot of changes throughout her years of employment with the district, including technology changes and the reorganization of the district.

Elk Point-Jefferson School Board hears administrative reports

The Elk Point-Jefferson School Board heard reports from the school administrators at their Oct. 11 meeting. The first report was from Technology Director Myles Larson who informed the board that there is a new look to Infinite Campus on the teacher/ staff side. The parent and student side of Campus should remain the same.

It was “Thursday Night Lights” for the Panther football squad on Oct. 19 as they took on a fierce Quarrier team in Dell Rapids. Despite matching their opponent in 1st downs, 12 for each team, Dakota Valley fell 18-52.

The South Dakota High School Soccer Coaches Association announced the 2023 Girls Class “A” All-State members. From Dakota Valley, Annabella Reyes was named to the First Team and Isabella Mijangos and Ashlynn Stusse were named to the Honorable Mention team.

The fastest field of cross country athletes invaded Yankton Trails, in Sioux Falls, on October 21st for the state meet. Dakota Valley qualified both the girls and boys varsity teams, which meant 12 Panthers represented on the course in addition to 4 talented alternates.
