CNOS recently broke ground on their new 6500-square-foot Imaging Center, expanding their offering of CT and MRI services to area patients. “As our patient population continues to grow, CNOS is proud to continue offering clinical excellence with the latest imaging technology,” said Summer Cord, Imaging Services Director at CNOS.

A national trend is hitting the United States and can be seen here in the local communities – a shortage of educators. This is the topic that the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) spoke to South Dakota’s legislators about during the Special Education Legislative Summit July 10-13, in Wahington, D.C..

The only brewery in Union County – Jefferson Beer Supply – opened its doors Jan. 1, 2022 and began selling their own beer in May. Since then, Nicki Werner and Anthony Roark have come up with creative ways to draw people to their business and to Jefferson.

On a hot and breezy day at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve in McCook Lake, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies’ Cross Country team brought 31 athletes to the Dakota Valley Cross Country Invitational. Teams included Dakota Valley, Tea Area, Lawton-Bronson, Elk Point-Jefferson, Canton, Siouxland Christian, Irene-Wakonda,Centerville,Sioux City West, Sioux City East and Alcester-Hudson.

For three weeks in a row, the Elk Point-Jefferson football team has showed their fierceness under the Friday Night lights by shutting down every opponent and ending every game (Parker 50-0 and Baltic 55-0) early due to the mercy rule. Friday night, Sept. 2 was no different; the Huskies defeated the Sioux Valley Cossacks 50-0 with 40 seconds left in the 2nd quarter, ultimately ending the game at halftime.

On Friday, Sept. 2, the Elk Point-JeffersonHuskyCrossCountry team took an unprecedented 10 athletes to the prestigious Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls. This unique race includes JV races, Varsity races and collegiate women and men – with the last 3 races being under the lights.

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies put up a good fight against Dell Rapids, Aug. 30. They battled the Quarriers defeating them 22-25 in the first two sets of the game and were looking for the same outcome in the third to end. However, that isn’t how the ball was landing. The Huskies took their first loss of the season in 5 sets: 25-22; 25-22; 18-25; 17-25; 5-15.

The Elk Point-Jefferson varsity girls volleyball team travelled a short distance south to take on rival Dakota Volleyball Sept. 1. The DV Panthers have a history of dominance in the sport and the Huskies fell to them in three games.

With 15 teams present at the Sioux Falls Christian Charger Invite at Spring Creek Golf Course, Elk Point-Jefferson was able to take 7th place. Sioux Falls Christian took 1st.

Travelling to northern Union Count y, the Elk Point-Jef ferson Huskies participated in the Beresford Quad Sept. 1. By one stroke, the Huskies beat the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers in team play at 186. The Dakota Valley Panthers took the team title at 159. Medalist at the meet was Beresford’s Dustin Maas with a score of 35.
