Huskies finish regular season 8-0

For the first time in Elk Point-Jefferson history, the Husky football team has finished the regular season 8-0 with their 28-14 victory Friday, Oct. 14 over Bridgewater- Emery/Ethan (BEE).

Stark, Cross headed to state meet

Happily, no Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies were carried off by the gusty winds on Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Class A Region 3 meet in Vermillion. With teams including Beresford, Dakota Valley, Vermillion, Lennox, Canton, Ethan/Parkston, Parker, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, Elk Point-Jefferson, Wagner, Hanson and Sanborn Central/ Woonsocket, this region is known as the most competitive in the State of South Dakota.

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies showed their South Dakota dominance against the South Sioux City, NE Cardinals Oct. 11.

Huskies defeat the Eagles, take 4th in tourney

The Irene -Wakonda Eagles soared back home after the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies decimated them in Elk Point Oct. 13 – 25-11; 25-4; 25-14. Bentlee Kollbaum led the Husky offense with 11 kills. Ashley Brewer had 7 kills on the night and was closely followed by Natalie Heuertz at 6. The Huskies showed their strength from the serving line as the team had 14 aces on the night. Danica Torrez led the way at 5 ace serves followed by Alyssa Chytka at 4, Heuertz 3 and Kollbaum with 2. Chytka recorded 15 digs. Sophia Giorgio had 27 assists on the night.

Fran Moore Luncheon returns

The annual Fran Moore Luncheon returns after COVID- 19 induced hiatus. The meal will be a Loaded Potato Bar to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club in downtown Vermillion on Monday, Oct. 24. The luncheon is sponsored by Juno Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. To help kick your experience up a notch, music will be provided by Elaine Peacock and Isabel Trobaugh. Juno has supported the Banquets in Vermillion, Elk Point, Centerville & Beresford as well as our own state projects such as the Eastern Star Home in Redfield, Service Dog fund, Eastern Star Educational Scholarship, the ESTARL Scholarship for students and missionaries in seminary.

SRO, secure entrances, discussed at board meeting

Safety was the theme of the Elk Point-Jefferson School Board meeting Oct. 10 as the board discussed secure entrances to all the buildings and the addition of a School Resource Officer.
