North Sioux City’s Park and Recreation board hosted it’s first annual Holiday Light Parade Dec. 3.
Cross: Named Assistant Coach of the Year for 2022

Steve Cross, the assistant cross country coach for Elk Point-Jefferson, was awarded as the Area 2 Assistant Coach of the Year. He will receive a plaque either in February or March of 2023.
Every job is important to the end

Hunter Sharkey started working for Aaladin as a summer job when an opportunity through the school presented itself. Seniors can participate in a job internship program to receive real world employment experiences. Aaladin was more than willing to participate in the program, giving Sharkey school credit and a paid internship.
Adams host annual Turkey Trot

It was a clear and crisp 28 degrees for runners, walkers and joggers at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve Nov. 24 as the Missouri River Runners club hosted its annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.

Union County 4-Her’s Compete at State Horse Show

The South Dakota State 4-H Horse Show took place July 24-26, 2023 in Pierre, SD. Union County 4-H Members Matthew Bryan and Kade Frank had the honor of riding in the American flag and signing the National Anthem to start the shows. The Elk Point City Council held a short meeting as they discussed one item – sidewalks. Contiguous sidewalks needing to be updated or sections needing to be added were discussed amongst the council.

Jefferson city council discusses plats, park

At the September meeting, the Jefferson City Council approved a plat for land prior to accepting an offer from the Corio’s to purchasing the property. At the meeting on Oct. 2, the council approved a updated drawing of the plats from McLaury Engineering which reflected the new property line and descriptions. By doing this, it saves both the buyer and the seller from filing the plats twice.

Cheer garners 1st in home invite

Competitive cheerleaders for Dakota Valley were in attendance at the Mitchell Cheer and Dance Invite on Oct. 5. The squad faced very few fellow Class A schools, but worked hard against the larger Class A opponents.
