Huskies go 2 for 2 on road:

The Elk Point-Jefferson volleyball team was on fire last week on the road, winning against Lennox in 5 and Tea Area in 4. Between the two games, it was also a memorable moment for two senior Huskies.

Huskies host Invite

Elk Point-Jefferson hosted their annual Husky Invite Sept. 15 at The Pointe Golf Course in Elk Point. Eight teams, including EPJ, participated in the matchplay event. In match play, 8 players from each school are paired together in brackets. The players then are given points that go toward their team’s overall score. First place finishers garner 12 points, 2nd 10 points, 3rd 8 points, 4th and 5th places 6 points, 6th place 4 points, 7th place 2 points and 8th place 1 point. While the Huskies have played lights out, ending the last 3 games by the mercy rule, this time the Huskies played the full game with a 35-0 victory.

A Safe Harvest

We hear it all the time. “Be safe!” or “Slow down and think twice!” But it’s easier said than done when running on little sleep and working through the thick of harvest. In 2017 alone, U.S. Census numbers reported that 416 farmers/farm workers died from a work-related injury. Transportation incidents were the leading cause of death in this data (cdc.gov). In addition, every day about 100 agriculture workers suffer a lost-work-time injury. Here are a few tips and reminders for this season.
