Kosinski prepares for deer season

An Elk Point boy with special needs is busy gathering his gear for a big game hunt all courtesy of the PDR Disabled Youth organization. Thomas Kosinski has enjoyed South Dakota’s long-honored hunting tradition before. On a prior deer hunt with the PDR Hunt group his sharp shooting skill was spot-on, and he proficiently harvested a Whitetail deer.

Union County 4-Hers participate in state fair

Huskies take on C-Hawks

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies took on the Canton C-Hawks in an away match, resulting in 5 sets of play Sept. 8. The C-Hawks soared over the Huskies in the 5th set to take the full match – 25-18, 11-25, 18-25, 25-22, 5-15.

EPJ downs WC

The Huskies went up against the West Central Trojans Sept. 6 and walked away victorious in 3 – 25-11; 25-19; 25-17.

EPJ plays on the Bluffs

The Huskies travelled to the Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion Sept. 8 to play in the Vermillion Invite. There were 14 teams participating, with one (Wagner) team that didn’t finish. EPJ took 10th place.

Multiple EPJ runners medal

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) Huskies’ Cross Country team travelled to Canton for the Canton Cross Country Invite. On their calendar every year, this meet is an opportunity to run a tough, hilly course. Teams include West Central, Vermillion, EPJ, Canton, Dakota Valley, Parker and Tea Area. The temperature was blistering hot, adding to the difficulty.

Cross participates in Heartland Preview

For the f irst time, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies sent a runner to the Heartland Preview Saturday, Sept. 10 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. This elite meet includes top runners throughout the region, with Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity races for boys and girls.
