Winter Coat Drive in NSC

As winter approaches, the need for warm clothing becomes increasingly essential, particularly for those who may be struggling to keep their families comfortable. This is why Jerri Bailey is reaching out to the community of North Sioux City to participate in the Winter Coat Drive. Once again, Bailey has set up coat racks at the ROCS Food Pantry located at City Hall, and Bailey needs your help to make this initiative a success.

Metros show solid performance at home opener

Sioux City’s 2024 National Champions emerged victorious in a dominant performance against Kansas City on Saturday’s home opener with a final score of 3-0. Sergeant Bluff Senior Hunter Echter and North Senior Noah Dirkschneider found the back of the net in the second period, while South Sioux Senior Ryan Hedquist sealed the win with a goal in the third period. However, the K.C. Jets came onto the ice Sunday morning ready for redemption. In an intense hockey game, the visiting team emerged victorious with a final score of 3-2. The game was marked by tight competition and several penalties. Sioux City saw goals from Dakota Valley Junior Noah Graham and S.S.C Senior Ryan Hedquist, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

Northshore asphalt will be open to buses

On October 21, 2024, the North Sioux City Council gathered for its regular meeting, which Mayor Patricia Teel called to order promptly at 7:00 p.m. The assembly included council members Kodi Benson, Jim Christenson, Joan Christiansen, Bob Davis, Lonnie Green, Lynn Hoffman, and Greg Meyer, while Gary Bogenrief was absent. Several key officials, including City Finance Officer Amy Lilly, Interim City Administrator Andrew Nilges, and City Attorney Sarah Kleber, also attended.

NSC reflects on Sudden Cardiac Awareness Month

The month of October was Sudden Cardiac Awareness month. A time to reflect on the importance of automated external defibrillators (AED) in public areas and buildings, as well as knowing how to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) in an emergency. This is something that is near and dear to the hearts of those working and volunteering at the North Sioux City Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

DV battles tough SFC in last regular season game

Going up against #1 ranked Sioux Falls Christian (SFC), the Panther football team had their work cut out for them on Thursday, October 24, 2024. It was the last home contest, as well as the final game of the regular season. Dakota Valley did not disappoint as they gave their fans a close one that came down to the wire in a 20-22 loss.

Competition cheer performs well at state contest

The South Dakota High School Activities Association held the 2024 state contest for competition cheer on October 25-26, 2024 in Rapid City. Dakota Valley was in attendance with others from Class A who all performed on Friday, October 25. The event was held in Rapid City at the Summit Arena in The Monument.

Dakota Valley Panthers sweep Vermillion Tanagers

An away contest on Friday, October 25, 2024 took the Panther volleyball team to Vermillion. It was a quick evening for Dakota Valley as they swept the Tanagers in quick fashion.

Elk Point-Jefferson board discusses 2024-25 goals

On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the Elk Point-Jefferson Board of Education convened for a regular session at 5:30 PM in the high school’s study hall. Under the leadership of President Travis Geary, the meeting kicked off with several key members present, including Noelle Jacobs and Kyle Hanson. Board members Sabrina Sayler and Tim Brewer were absent. Other attendees included Superintendent Philip Schonebaum, Business Manager Heather Watterson, Principal Laura Throener, and Principal Skyler Eriksen, who contributed their insights throughout the meeting. However, Technology Coordinator Myles Larsen and K-12 Dean of Students/Activities Director Justin Clercx were absent.

EPJ Huskies take down Flandreau Fliers move to second round
