Council hears residents’ concerns about noise pollution

On January 6, 2025, the North Sioux City City Council convened for their regular meeting, presided over by Mayor Teel. The meeting commenced promptly at 7:00 p.m., with all council members present, including Mr. Benson, Mr. Bogenrief, Mr. Christenson, Ms. Christiansen, Mr. Davis, Mr. Green, Ms. Hoffman, and Mr. Meyer. On January 6, 2025, the Jefferson City Council convened at City Hall for their regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. Members present included Mayor Paddy Rigg and council members Tony Boulware, Jason Casper, Mark LaFleur, John Lokhorst, Michael Stokely, and John Van Beest. The Elk Point City Council convened for its regular session Monday, January 6, 2025 at 7:00 PM, presided over by Mayor McCreary. Dakota Valley One Act 'Oh, What a Tangled Web'

Daily rehearsals have been happening for Dakota Valley’s one-act cast of “Oh, What a Tangled Web”. The play, written by John R. Carroll, will be performed by the Panthers at regionals on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in Vermillion.

County determines key positions, responsibilities

On January 7, 2025, the Union County Board of Commissioners convened for their regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Courthouse. Commissioners Michael Dailey, Kevin Joffer, Tom Kimmel, and Peggy Ustad presented for the meeting. This was the annual organizational meeting, where key positions and responsibilities were determined for the upcoming year.

Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers faced tough Bon Homme team

Some busy days of competition were in store for the Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers during the 2nd week of the New Year. On January 9, 2025 they traveled to an away dual, then on January 11, the EPJ wrestlers were right back in the action to compete in the Jesse James Invitational.

EPJ Huskies defeat Canistota Hawks

A great game was had by the Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The Huskies defeated the Hawks of Canistota by a score of 63-39.

Lady Huskies dominate Dell Rapids Quarriers

With only 1 loss on the season to date, the Elk Point-Jefferson girls basketball team traveled to Dell Rapids on Saturday, January 11, 2025 with high hopes. They were hungry for another win and it showed on the court. The Huskies dominated against the Quarriers, and a big win was achieved as they bested Dell Rapids 60-26.

Dooley new NSC city administrator

Stability is the focus for Jeff Dooley as North Sioux City’s new city administrator. It is a role he feels ready to take on as he looks forward to being an asset to a community in need. Dooley’s first day was December 2, 2024 and with it came an excitement and an energy that many are eager to have at city hall.
