County accepts bid to replace courthouse HVAC

On March 18, 2025, the Union County Board of Commissioners convened for their regular session at the Courthouse in Elk Point, South Dakota. The meeting began at 8:30 a.m. and was attended by Commissioners Dailey, Joffer, Kimmel, and Ustad.

EPJ Huskies compete in the Dan Lennon Invitational

Many varsity track and field athletes, from Elk Point-Jefferson, were in Vermillion for the Dan Lennon Class B Invite to kickstart the season. The annual meet happened on March 18, 2025 and was held indoors at the Dakota Dome.

EPJ Band and Jazz Band perform well

It has been a busy spring and second semester for the Elk Point-Jefferson band students and jazz band members. The Huskies recently performed well in Vermillion, at the Region 1 Solo/Ensemble Contest, on March 12, 2025. Husky band director Preston Pohlman accompanied the EPJ students and was thrilled with the top ratings earned by many of his students.

Husky GBB Honors

Three Huskies for the 2024/25 girls basketball team earned all-conference honors for their spectacular play this past season. Senior Bentlee Kollbaum and junior Cera Schmitz were named to the DAK 12’s All-Conference 2nd Team. Senior Ashley Brewer secured a spot on the DAK 12’s All-Conference 3rd Team.

Dakota Valley girls basketball 4th at State Tourney

Dakota Valley girls basketball opened up state tourney play in Spearfish, South Dakota. The Panthers were up against the Sioux Valley Cossacks for their 1st round. The game was played in the evening on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Lewis forges relationship with local schools

Lewis Electric, in North Sioux City, has been in business since 1955 and is well known in the tri-state area for their great work and reliability. They are a third generation, family owned company. The owner, Dan Lewis, started working for his family in 1992. He took over operations in 1996 and the company moved to North Sioux City in 2014.
