All-State Chorus for the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) took place on November 1, 2025 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. The best high school singers from throughout the Mount Rushmore state were together for this annual event with a full day of rehearsal also happening on October 31, 2025.

Recently several talented vocalists from Elk Point-Jefferson were selected to participate in the 2026 Morningside Vocal Arts Festival. This event, which takes place on January 11-12, 2026, allows the best high school singers in the tri-state area to come together and perform on the campus of Morningside University.

Regional play in Class A volleyball started for the Huskies on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. It was an away contest as Elk Point-Jefferson was seeded #5 to take on the #4 C-Hawks in Canton.

The North Sioux City Planning Commission approved a building permit for 760 River Drive during a special meeting Nov. 3, allowing the project to move forward with grading and foundation work ahead of a planned spring opening. Chair Peter Holbrook called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall. Commissioners Tony Carpenter, Jim Christenson, Andrew DeVries, Peter Holbrook, and Dave Mitchell were present. Also attending were Ross Kuchta with Planning & Zoning and Andrew Nilges with North Sioux City Economic Development.

The Elk Point City Council met in regular session Nov. 3 with Mayor Deb Mc-Creary presiding.

Student council members at Dakota Valley High School hosted a “No Tricks, Just Treats—Pack the Pantry” drive this past October and it was a huge success. Students and community members contributed canned goods, non-perishables, toiletry items and more. Demi Harlan, the Panther student council advisor, was thrilled with the generosity and kind heartedness of all who donated to the drive.

The Jefferson City Council met Nov. 3 to discuss infrastructure planning, legal questions surrounding HB 1130, and ongoing cleanup efforts at a Main Street trailer property.

As the #1 seed in region 4 for Class A volleyball, Dakota Valley hosted the semifinals on Thursday, November 6, 2025. The Panthers received a bye for the 1st round of regional play. The 2nd round had them facing Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) for an opportunity to advance to the SoDak 16 state qualifying match.
