The Elk Point City Council convened its regular meeting on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss various city matters. A foundation that helps fund outdoor recreation projects in South Dakota has launched a $10 million fundraising campaign.The five-year effort aims to support 28 projects across the state that would otherwise face delays due to budget constraints.Representatives of the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation discussed the campaign at the Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary Club’s Monday meeting at the Holiday Inn Sioux Falls City Centre. The foundation works with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks to fund projects that improve outdoor recreational facilities and conserve wildlife habitats.

The Siouxland Recovery Fund, in collaboration with the Community Action Agency of Siouxland and the Salvation Army of Siouxland, is proud to announce the launch of an individual assistance program to support the needs of flood victims in Woodbury, Union, Plymouth, and Dakota Counties.

A new format for regional play in the 16U division for South Dakota VFW had Dakota Valley winning twice on Wednesday, July 28 and advancing to state. The Panthers had to win 2 out of 3 games versus their regional opponent in order to be a state qualifier. And they did just that in swift fashion.

Dakota Valley Athletic Director Bill Clements ran the 2024 fall sports meeting on Monday, August 5 in the school’s high school gym. He spoke to a large crowd about the upcoming autumn sports season.

The historic flood wreaked havoc on Dakota Valley School’s school grounds. The school board met to address the damages and ensure the safety of the students. In a special board of education meeting held on July 24, 2024, crucial decisions were made to repair the school grounds and ensure that the upcoming school year started on time.
