The Elk Point-Jefferson Jazz Band competed at the Brooking Optimist Jazz Festival Thursday, April 13. The band earned 1st place in their last competition of the year.

Giorgio awarded CRWS scholarship

The Clay Rural Water System Board of Directors has announced that Sophia Giorgio of Elk Point-Jefferson and Macy Quartier and Irelyn Fickbohm, both of Beresford, are recipients of the water systems annual scholarship program – the Jack and Arlene DeVany Scholarship Program.

A contest against rival Dakota Valley had Elk Point-Jefferson pushing themselves to do better. The Huskies worked hard, but fell just short of winning the baseball game April 17 at home.

Kum & Go to be sold

More than 400 convenience stores in 13 states are about to be under new management. Krause Group plans to sell all their Kum & Go convenience stores to Maverik – Adventure’s First Stop, a convenience store chain headquartered in Salt Lake City, UT. The sale is expected to close in a few months, according to Kum & Go – bringing an end to 63 years of Iowa ownership and expansion.

Lady Panthers continues winning streak

It was an exciting matchup for the Dakota Valley softball team as they took their undefeated record up against the Lady Bulldogs from Madison on Monday, April 17. It was a home contest that had many on the edge of their seats as the game was scoreless until the 3rd inning.

Dakota Valley plays strong, wins golf dual

The Panther girls golf team took on the Elk-Point Jefferson Huskies and a couple of golfers from Flandreau for a dual meet on Tuesday, April 18. Overall team scoring had Dakota Valley as the big winners on the day. Many individuals also placed high with stellar scores.

Panthers find success at Canton Relays

It was a beautiful day on Monday, April 17 for the Canton track meet. The weather was great and what made it even more perfect was all of the personal records achieved by the Panther athletes. The title of champions of the Canton meet went to the DV boys and the girls achieved runner-up.

Dakota Valley has back-to-back victories

It was back-to-back away games for the Dakota Valley baseball team on April 17 and 18 which meant it was back-toback victories for the Panthers. Versus Elk Point-Jefferson, DV had their closest contest of the season to come out ahead 2-1. The next night at Canton, they downed the C-Hawks 10-3.
