DV bats stay hot in two‑game sweep of Tri‑County

    Two wins were secured by the Dakota Valley varsity baseball team versus the Tri-County Sundogs in mid-April. The Panthers were victorious by large margins in both contests as the bats were on fire and pitching was sound. Their opponents, the Tri-County Sundogs, consisted of players from Irene, Gayville, Volin, Wakonda, Hurley and Viborg.

    Huskies claim girls title, boys fifth at Wagner Invite

    Competing in the Wagner Invite for track and field, on April 14, 2026, were Elk Point-Jefferson’s boys and girls teams. Top honors were achieved as the Husky girls claimed 1st place as a team and the Husky boys brought home 5th place. There were 16 girls’ teams at this meet and 17 boys’ teams.

    EPJ bands earn Superior rating, first‑place jazz finish

    The annual band competition for Region 1 Large Group was held at the University of South Dakota, on April 8, 2026. Elk Point-Jefferson’s high school band was in attendance and earned high accolades. Judges gave the Huskies a Division I Superior rating for their performances of Overture for Winds by Charles Carter, Arioso by Clifton Williams, and The Cave You Fear by Michael Markowski. Husky band director, Preston Pohlman, was thrilled with how well his students competed in Vermillion, South Dakota.

    The Elk Point‑Jefferson Performing Arts Boosters will host their inaugural Awards Gala on May 3 at The Pointe, celebrating EPJ performing arts students for their talent, dedication and accomplishments throughout the year.

    Huskies earn road win after early‑week loss to Tanagers

    Baseball bats were cracking as the Huskies played ball on April 13, 2026 and April 19, 2026. It would be a split of 1 loss and 1 win for Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ). The 1st contest was versus the Vermillion Tanagers. The Huskies managed to score 1 time versus a strong Tanager roster. With EPJ as the away team, it was a final of 1-7.
