Radio tower unsafe to relocate

When the Union County Commissioners were discussing courthouse expansions, one phase included relocating the radio tower and generator. While the expansion has been put on hold, the commissioners continued discussions on moving the tower May 2 at their meeting.

Jensen, Phisitkul rule over 2023 Prom

The 2023 Dakota Valley prom dance was held on Saturday, April 29. Seniors, juniors and underclassmen who were invited by upperclassmen dressed in their formal best for the event. The theme for this year’s prom was “Vegas” and masters of ceremonies were Madelyn Hamm and Avery Mozak.

Homeruns plentiful for lady Huskies last week

The Huskies decided it was time act like it was a Homerun Derby during their last week of softball games. Multiple players for Elk Point-Jefferson were speeding around the bases after their crack of the bats and seeing homeplate as a result.

Huskies compete at DV Invite

On Tuesday, April 26, the EPJ track girls and boys made the short drive to North Sioux City to participate in the Dakota Valley Invite. This meet was highly competitive in some of the events with the addition of top-tier teams. The ten teams at the Invite were Sioux Falls Christian, Dakota Valley, Elk Point-Jefferson, Canton, Dell Rapids, South Sioux City, Tea Area, West Central, Lennox, and Vermillion.

Curry and McDermott excel in Yankton

On Thursday, April 27 the EPJ Huskies Boys and Girls Track teams headed west to Yankton to compete in the First Dakota Relays. With 17 teams in participation, the day promised to be highly competitive. The chilly, windy and rainy weather conditions, coupled with the meet being over nine hours long, made this not only a test of speed, endurance or strength, but also of fortitude!

Caring Committee hosts PBJ Run

Immanuel Lutheran’s Caring Committee is collecting shelf-stable foods for children for the upcoming summer months. For children that might be making their own lunches throughout the summer, the committee is seeking donation items such as Spaghetti Os, canned pastas, Ramen noodles, microwaveable macaroni & cheese, toaster pastries, cereals, or anything that can be easily prepared.
