$250,000 for flood relief efforts

The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) REALTOR Relief Foundation (RRF) is providing a substantial $250,000 in aid to support communities in Southeastern South Dakota affected by recent flooding from June 16th to July 8th. The areas impacted have been officially designated as disaster zones by both Governor Kristi Noem and President Joe Biden.

Langle breaks EPJ school record, wins event

The Huskies played some competitive golf on August 26 and August 28 to close out the month. They traveled north to play in Dell Rapids and later in the week Elk Point-Jefferson went south to hit the links at Two Rivers in Dakota Dunes.

Elk Point-Jefferson lady Huskies dominate MVP

The Elk Point-Jefferson volleyball squad took care of business in their first match of the 2024 season. They hosted Mount Vernon/Plankinton on Thursday, August 29 and had a clean sweep victory. The Huskies dominated to win 3 sets to 0 against their opponent.

Husky cross country teams run well in first meet

Over 600 runners and more than 30 teams were in attendance for the Beresford XC (cross country) Invite on Friday, August 30. It was the kick-off meet of the season for Elk Point-Jefferson. And many Huskies ran well on The Bridges Golf Course.

NSCPD making a life saving difference

On June 7, 2024, at Cubby’s Gas Station in Dakota Dunes, the North Sioux City Police Department displayed exemplary dedication and quick thinking that saved a life. Officer Levi Saunders, Sergeant Jesse Henrichs, and Officer Isaac Wodtke responded to a cardiac arrest situation at the gas station, and their swift actions proved to be nothing short of heroic.

Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies devour Parker Pheasants

The Huskies played hard and showed no mercy to Parker on Friday, August 23 as they trounced the Pheasants by a score of 54-0. It was the first football game of the 2024 season for Elk Point-Jefferson and great things were observed on the field.

DV eager for rematch Friday

Saturday, August 24 was the first soccer match for Dakota Valley boys. Despite a 2-7 loss, great things were observed on the pitch as the Panthers played Freeman Academy in the away contest.

Panther golfers start season breaking school record

The Panther boys varsity golf roster started the season strong by breaking a school record on Tuesday, August 20th. Dakota Valley won the West Central Early Bird Invite at Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford with an impressive team score of 297.

County discusses stoplights, detours

On August 20, 2024, the Union County Board of Commissioners convened for their regular session at the Elk Point Courthouse in South Dakota. The meeting commenced at 8:30 a.m., was presided over by Chairman Richard Headid, and attended by Commissioners Michael Dailey and Tom Kimmel. Commissioner Kevin Joffer was absent.
