The Elk Point City Council convened for its regular meeting on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the council chambers of City Hall. Mayor Mc-Creary presided over the meeting, and all council members, including Penfield, Abraham, Irwin, Hurlbert, VonHaden, and Irlbeck, were present. City Attorney Thompson, City Administrator Tuttle, Police Chief Limoges, Finance Officer Hammitt, and Public Works Director Job also attended.

All-State Choir Clinic

The Elk Point-Jefferson choir is staying busy throughout the months of October and November. Katelyn Brunick, EPJ’s 5th-12th grade Choir & Vocal Jazz Director, is readily preparing the Huskies for an October 28th concert at the school. It is called the “Halloween Spook-tacular Choir Concert”.

Women’s Wednesday Club 125th Anniversary

The Women’s Wednesday Club recently marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 125th Anniversary on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The event, filled with profound historical significance and camaraderie, took place at the Union County Historical Society’s Charles Murtha House, where club members adorned themselves in turn-of-the-century costumes to honor the occasion.

First Dakota National Bank is proud to have earned the distinction of South Dakota’s #1 Best-In-State Bank by Forbes business magazine for 2024. The results were based on a survey of approximately 26,000 U.S. residents.

Ustad appointed to County Board

The Union County Board of Commissioners convened for their regular session on October 1, 2024, at the Courthouse in Elk Point. The meeting commenced at 8:30 a.m. and was attended by board members Michael Dailey, Kevin Joffer, Richard Headid, Peggy Ustad, and Tom Kimmel.

The City Council of North Sioux City held a special meeting on September 26, 2024. The meeting commenced at 7:00 p.m. and was called to order by Mayor Patricia Teel. Council members Kodi Benson, Gary Bogenrief, Jim Christenson, Bob Davis, Lonnie Green, Lynn Hoffman, Greg Meyer, and Joan Christiansen attended. Also in attendance were City Finance Officer Amy Lilly and City Attorney Sarah Kleber.
