Elk Point Hometown Christmas Market

The first ever Elk Point Hometown Christmas Market was hosted on Saturday, November 30, 2024 by the city’s chamber of commerce. The event ran from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., on Main Street, in Elk Point. Vendors were set-up, as well as many fun activities in place for kids and families.

County, Sioux Falls Humane Society enter agreement

On November 26, 2024, the Union County Board of Commissioners convened for a regular session at 8:30 a.m. Members present included Chairman Kevin Joffer, Tom Kimmel, and Peggy Ustad.

EPJ Huskies participate in the Region 1 Honor Band

Band Director Preston Pohlman accompanied some very talented Huskies to Canton on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 for Region 1 Honor Band. It was an evening of wonderful music with Elk Point-Jefferson having the following band students attend: Tessa McMahan: EPJ Regan Rasmussen: Flute Natalie Wells: Trumpet Carter Langle: Trombone Thomas Hemmingstad Percussion Jillyan Vande Vegte: Percussion The concert took place in the Canton Performing Arts Center. Band students practiced all day together and were under the direction of Dr. Christopher Brandt from Morningside University in Sioux City. The large group worked on-stage all at once and also in sections throughout the course of the day.

First Dakota hosts fraud prevention seminar

A crowd of over 20 people gathered in Elk Point, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, for an educational seminar on fraud prevention. The community event was hosted by First Dakota National Bank with all congregating in the Kalstad Room located within The Pointe Golf and Event Center. Maggie Jennings, a Risk Management and Fraud Prevention Officer with First Dakota in Sioux Falls, came to Elk Point to visit with residents and discuss the issue of fraud.

Wounded Warriors Project benefit

On December 8th, the Marquee in Sioux City will transform into a hub of community spirit as residents come together to support the Wounded Warriors Project, an organization dedicated to assisting veterans injured in combat. Hosted by community members John Glaza, Rose Gilman, and Bill (Chopper) Pelchat, this benefit promises to be an afternoon filled with music, camaraderie, and the collective effort to aid those who have bravely served our nation.
