NSC Library Summer Reading kick-off

The North Sioux City Library has a lot of great reading plans for the summer of 2025. On June 5, there is to be a huge kickoff party, at the library, to usher in this year’s summer reading program. Activities include a color run, catered food, face painting, crafts and more. People are encouraged to wear, or bring, a white shirt if they plan to participate in the color run course.

DV golfers perform well at recent events

The end of May brought cool weather and windy conditions that disrupted the end of regular season play for girls high school golf in South Dakota. Dakota Valley student council and homecoming news

School may be out for the Panthers, however Dakota Valley student council high school members are currently meeting throughout the summer to make sure all is ready for homecoming celebrations in 2025. This year’s homecoming football game will be held on Friday, September 5th.

NSC approves grant application

The North Sioux City Commission convened for a regular meeting on May 27, 2025, addressing infrastructure improvements, community concerns, and scheduling updates. Dakota Valley State Baseball Runner-ups

The Dakota Valley varsity baseball team took the state tournament by storm on May 26-27, 2025. The event was held in Brookings and the Panthers were a #6 seed, but played like champions throughout each and every contest.

Union County hires Stokely as new VSO

The Union County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on May 27, 2025, at the Union County Courthouse in Elk Point, South Dakota. The meeting began at 8:30 a.m., with all commissioners—Dailey, Joffer, Ballard, Kimmel, and Ustad—present to review county operations, budget concerns, infrastructure projects, and ordinance updates.

EPJ softball team headed to state tournament

Elk Point-Jefferson closed out their regular season of 2025 softball with a pair of big wins on Friday, May 23rd. They followed it up by hosting their 1st ever SoDak 16 game on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The state qualifier came against Sioux Falls Christian and ended with EPJ’s ticket punched to the state tournament.

EPJ’s Kommes earns a spot at the state tournament

The Elk Point-Jefferson girls golf squad played some fierce rounds of golf to end the month of May. The Huskies were at the regional meet, in Beresford, on May 23, 2025. They then traveled to Madison for a rescheduled golf meet that included DAK 12 conference competition, as well as surrounding area schools.
