Panther track & field post golds in SESD Showcase

The last track and field meet of the 2026 spring high school season happened for Dakota Valley, at home, on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Top finishes were observed in the Southeast South Dakota (SESD) Showcase which served as a “last chance” meet for those hoping to qualify for the state contest. Many Panthers worked hard and are looking to represent DV well on May 28-30, 2026 at the state meet in Sioux Falls.

Huskies shine with multiple meet records at SESD

The Southeast South Dakota (SESD) Showcase track and field meet was held on May 21, 2026 with Elk Point-Jefferson in attendance. The contest was hosted by Dakota Valley with schools from Alcester-Hudson, Beresford, Canton, Centerville, Irene-Wakonda, Lennox, Parker/Marion and Vermillion also competing. Strong performances on the track and at the field events were observed as the Huskies left North Sioux City with many top placings.

The Elk Point-Jefferson girls golf team traveled to Canton last Thursday (May 21, 2026) to compete in the Region 2A meet, facing some of the top individual competitors and teams in Class A across the state.

EPJ shows grit in pair of one‑run extra‑inning battles

Two tight contests concluded regular season play for the Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) varsity softball team in mid-May. Each ball game had the Huskies on the losing end, but only by a single run. On May 19, 2026 it was an extra innings battle against Madison and on May 23, 2026 it was another extended game versus Dell Rapids (DR).

Panthers close home slate in style with 14–0 win

In their last regular season home game, Dakota Valley baseball garnered a big win on May 11, 2026. It was senior night and the Panthers outscored Elk Point-Jefferson 14-0 in 5 innings. Seniors Sterling Schauff and Grady Ramos were dominant on the mound as they combined for 7 strikeouts.

Panthers stack two big wins in DAK XII play

Panther softball squared off against a couple of DAK XII conference opponents on back-to-back nights in mid-May. Great games were played with Dakota Valley (DV) being the victor in both contests. They bested West Central (WC) on Monday, May 11, 2026 in an away game. They mercy ruled Lennox, at home, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

DV girls golf rallies late to secure 3rd at WC Invite

As a roster, the Dakota Valley varsity girls golf team claimed 3rd place overall at the West Central Invite in Hartford, South Dakota on May 11, 2026. The Panthers secured a team score of 66. They bested 4th place Madison by 5 strokes. They were behind 1st place Vermillion and 2nd place Sioux Falls Christian (SFC). Vermillion finished with a +42 and the SFC Chargers recorded a +45.

Wind can’t slow Panthers at DAK XII Conference Meet

The wind was fierce, but so were the Panthers as they competed in track and field on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Tri-Valley. It was the DAK XII Conference Meet which brought together the best competition from East River. The Dakota Valley (DV) coaching staff, for track and field, was proud of how well all of the DV athletes performed. Many medals were earned, as were several conference champion titles.

Lady golfers steady in tough field at West Central Invite

Varsity girl golfers from Elk Point-Jefferson hit the links on Monday, May 11, 2026 for the West Central Invite. They competed against student athletes from Dakota Valley, Sioux Falls Christian, Vermillion, Madison, Chamberlain, West Central, Canton and more. The Huskies tied for 8th place overall with Winner. Both teams secured a +135. The EPJ girls golf team bested Lennox, Dell Rapids and Tri-Valley.
