It came down to the fourth quarter to determine the winner between the girls basketball game of Elk Point-Jefferson and Tri-Valley Jan. 26.

The Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers had a great showing at the DAK-12 Conference meet at Dakota Valley Jan. 21. Luke Swatek (120) had a fourth place finish; Noah Mc-Dermott (195) and Noah Thooft (220) garnered 2nd place finishes at the meet and Lucas Hueser (152) brought home the gold.

The Huskies went up against the number one seed Vermillion Jan. 17 and only lost by one point.

Once again, the Elk Point-Jefferson boys protected their home territory against Vermillion Jan. 17.

The Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers travelled to Tri-Valley’s Invite Jan. 14 and came home with some individual place winners.

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies were challenged by the Ponca Indians Jan. 10.

The boys protected their home court this last week with defeats over Canistota, SD and Ponca, NE. The first game, Jan.

The Elk Point-Jefferson Marching Band returned from Tampa, FL on Jan. 3 after a successful ReliaQuest Bowl appearance. The band brought home more than just memories – they brought back four awards: Best Drum Major (Aubrey Bousquet), Best Marching, Best Overall Effect and #1 Parade Band in their classification Before leaving for Florida, the band spent around 10 hours practicing the music for the halftime performance. While in Florida, all the bands (others from San Diego, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio) were able to have almost five hours of combined rehearsal time at Thomas Jefferson High School. Altogether, the band members totalled over 600 students.

Internships are meant to help people determine whether they enjoy a job or not. For one Elk Point-Jefferson senior, his internship led to a job opportunity.

Alcester-Hudson posed no threat to Elk Point-Jefferson during their Jan. 6 contest in Elk Point.
