Elk Point-Jefferson Track, Field athletes place at Regions

On Thursday, May 18, the EPJ Huskies Boys and Girls Track teams participated in the Region 4A Track Meet in Tea. This ‘last chance’ meet is an opportunity to qualify for the State Track Meet. With eight teams, including Dakota Valley, Tea Area, Canton, Lennox, Vermillion, Parker, Beresford, and Elk Point-Jefferson, the Region 4A meet is always a competitive day.

Elk Point-Jefferson Boys fall short in region tournament

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies fought hard this last week, playing four games total – two before regions and two on Sunday, May 21 in Super-Regional play. The first game for the week saw the Huskies facing the Vermillion Tanagers May 16.

Dakota Valley defeats Elk Point-Jefferson in close contest

The Panther baseball team played on Tuesday, May 9 on their home field. It was an exciting game versus the Huskies of Elk Point-Jefferson. An extra inning and a walk-off winning hit capped off the incredible contest between the two schools.

Girls golf in Hartford, Vermillion Invites

On May 8, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies travelled to Hartford to participate in West Central’s Invite. Out of 14 teams, EPJ placed 8th. Sioux Falls Christian (SFC) brought home the team title. Tori Peterson of SFC was an individual medalist with a score of 75.

Lady Huskies decimate Beresford, Canton

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies softball team had a great couple weeks of play with more ladies garnering homeruns and decimating the Canton C-Hawks. On Fr iday, May 5 against Beresford Hannah Nearman hit her first over the fence homerun.

EPJ Huskies have exciting week of play

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies had a couple exciting away games against Dakota Valley May 9 and Parker May 13. The Huskies went up against the Panthers and lost by one in the 8th inning.

Kollbaum, Curry and Cross named DAK-XII Champions

On May 11, the EPJ Huskies Boys’ and Girls’ track teams made the short drive to Vermillion to part icipate in the DAK-XII championships. With varying weather including heat, humidity, rain and a severe weather delay, the meet was a challenging one. The fact that the meet ran well and nearly on time was a testament to excellent organization and volunteers.

Elk Point-Jefferson boys win 3 out of 4 last weeks

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies had a full week of games from May 2 to May 7 with four games. They played against Vermillion May 2, Freeman/Canistota May 4 and Bon Homme and Wagner May 7.

Golfers continue to improve scores

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies continue to improve their golf game as the season continues. There haven’t been very many nice days for the meets where the wind is steady or non-existent and the weather cooperates.
