All-State teams

In Class A, Dakota Valley’s Logan Miller was named as an infielder and Elk Point-Jefferson’s Josie Curry was recognized as an infielder under honorable mention. Elk Point-Jefferson’s Sophia Giorgio was recognized as an outfield under honorable mention.

Dakota Valley starts Legion ball

Legion baseball season in South Dakota has started and the Dakota Valley Post 319 Panthers are off to a strong start in the senior league for 19-year-olds and younger. The DV squad won their legion ball home opener on Tuesday, June 6 versus Elk-Point Jefferson’s senior legion team by a score of 6-1.

South Dakota high school Athletes participate in State Trap Meet

South Dakota – High school athletes and teams representing schools from across the state scheduled to participate at 2023 South Dakota State High School Clay Target League State Tournament in June. The SDSHSCTL Trap Shooting State Tournament was held at the Aberdeen Gun Club June 10-11.

Elk Point-Jefferson Lady Huskies bring home sixth place

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies travelled to Aberdeen to take part in the firstever state sanctioned Class A softball tournament June 1-3. Class AA and Class B also held their tournaments in Aberdeen.

Preaching and teaching the community for 19 years

June 25 will be a bittersweet day for many in the Elk Point community as Pastor David Bambas says farewell to the community he’s known for the last 19 years. Bambas has been a pastor with the United Methodist Church (now the Global Methodist Church (GMC)) for 38 years.

Huskies receive recognition

The South Dakota Softball Coaches Association Academic All-State team includes seniors who were nominated by their coach and have a GPA of 3.5 or above. In Class A, Elk Point-Jefferson’s seniors to receive this recognition were Sophia Giorgio, Grace Griffin, Alyssa Chytka, Josie Curry, Grace Schuh, Jezmarie Stultz-Praster, Danica Torrez and Nicole Wells.

Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies bring home state medals

The South Dakota High School Athletic Association State Championship Track Meet was held on May 25 through May 27 at Howard Wood in Sioux Falls. With teams from all parts of South Dakota across classes B, A, and AA, the competition level was set to be higher than ever.

Girls compete at conference, regions; Buenger qualifies for state

The Elk Point-Jefferson team travelled to Vermillion May 22 to play in the DAK12 Conference girls golf tournament and May 25 in Sioux Falls for the Region tournament. At the Conference tournament, the Huskies tied for 9th place along with Dell Rapids.
