Huskies earn multiple podiums at DAK XII

One of the toughest wrestling tournaments in the state happened on Saturday, January 24, 2026 as the Huskies attended the DAK XII conference tourney. The competition was held in Dell Rapids and Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) brought home a conference tournament champion in Luke Swatek. Several other Huskies also made podium appearances.

Huskies keep intensity high in Tanager showdown

Fast paced play kicked off the Husky boys basketball game, in Vermillion, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The Tanagers were strong from the outside arc. Elk Point-Jefferson worked hard for opportunities, but trailed 8-16 with 90 seconds left in the 1st quarter. Their opponent stayed hot to garner more hoops. This had the Huskies trailing by 13 to start the 2nd period.

EPJ girls fight to the end in two‑game road test

The Huskies were in Vermillion to play the Tanagers on January 20, 2026. It was 2-2 early as Elk Point-Jefferson’s Camryn Norris hit a jumper. Vermillion’s Taylor Reuvers, a strong guard for the Tanagers, hit a deep 3 to put EPJ down early. However, Paige Jacobs then scored for the Huskies and started a 6-0 run for her team. An intense 1st quarter of play was evident on the court. Both teams were diving on the f loor for loose balls and crashing hard for rebounds. Each team had 4 fouls apiece with 1:20 left in the 1st.

Big turnout for EPJ youth wrestling meet

Approximately 200 youth wrestlers were in Elk Point on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The Huskies hosted their an‑nual tournament for athletes in preschool through 6th grade. Grapplers from South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska were observed in the gymnasium.

EPJ Grapplers battle through Parker, Vermillion duals

Wrestlers of Elk Point-Jefferson were kept busy as they traveled for high school duals on January 13, 2026 and January 15, 2026. Their first destination was Parker, South Dakota where the Huskies wrestled against the Parker Pheasants, Parkston Trojans and Flandreau Fliers. Two days later, EPJ wrestled in Vermillion versus the Tanagers and also the Lennox Orioles.

EPJ stuns Wagner, continue strong play in busy week

It was a packed gym on January 13, 2026 for Husky girls basketball as the Wagner Red Raiders were in Elk Point. Wagner’s roster boasted top recruit Ashlyn Koupal who is committed to play basketball at the University of Nebraska next fall. In addition to fans and family, Coach Amy Williams with the Nebraska Cornhuskers also attended the game to observe the contest between EPJ and Wagner.

Huskies show fight in Wagner, Ponca contests

The Red Raiders of Wagner were visiting the Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The game was close with the Huskies clawing for the lead, however ultimately it would end in a 54-61 loss.

EPJ ties for 9th, earns five medals at MCM Invite

January 3, 2026 marked the 1st wrestling contest of the new year for the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies. The team competed against over 20 schools in the McCook Central Montrose (MCM) Invitational. As a roster, EPJ finished tied for 9th with 81 points. Redfield also had 91 points.

Huskies rebound with wins over Gettysburg, Canton

Conference foe Dell Rapids was in town to face the Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team on December 22, 2025. The Huskies fought hard and stayed close with the Quarriers throughout the 1st half, and even throughout the 3rd quarter. However, momentum on offense swung in the direction of DR as EPJ fell 56-80.

EPJ pushes Canton to overtime in hard‑fought battle

The Huskies were set to play Canton in 2025, but Mother Nature had other plans as the rescheduled date pushed the contest to January 5, 2026. No matter the date, it would be a great contest on Elk Point-Jefferson’s home basketball court. Ultimately, the match-up extended to overtime and had EPJ falling just short of a victory.
