Conference, State Volleyball Honors

Volleyball honors for the 2023 season have been announced. For Elk Point-Jefferson Junior outside hitter Bentlee Kollbaum was named to the DAK-12 Conference Volleyball second team and Class A All-State Honorable Mention.

Sisters compete against one another in first collegiate competition

Elk Point-Jefferson graduates and sisters Kenna and Josie Curry both were able to meet once again on the field, but not as teammates. Both Currys were able to secure track and field scholarships and competed against one another in the SDSU Holiday Open & Multi on Dec. 1 and 2.

Huskies bring home 4th place in season opener

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies held their own on the mats to begin the 2023-24 wrestling season in Flandreau, SD at their annual Booster Club Invite Dec. 2.

All-Conference football selections

Members of the Elk Point-Jefferson football team were named to Big East Conference All-Conference teams. They included, Seniors Evan Fornia, Jake Gale and Garrett Merkley and Junior Hudson Kempf. Those named as Honorable Mention were Senior Reed Sayler and Juniors Keaton Gale and Grayson Girard.

Huskies finish 2nd after another great season

Find A Way. That was the Huskies theme this year as reigning Class B State Football Champions. And they did just that, they found a way through the regular season; found a way through the semi-finals; and found themselves back at the Dome.

Pack the Dome: Huskies head to state championship

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies did it again. It was a match-up of last year’s state tournament game in Winner on Friday, Nov. 3 as the Huskies challenged the undefeated Warriors on their home field. The long drive didn’t hinder the Huskies though as they fought to keep their state run alive.

Huskies state run ends in second round of region play

It wasn’t a trick, but all treats for the Huskies as they once again defeated the Vermillion Tanagers on Oct. 31. Although, this time, the defeat ended the season for the Tanagers and advanced the Huskies further in the Region 4A bracket.

EPJ Huskies advance on to quarterfinal round

For the first time since 2008, the Groton Area Tigers challenged the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on the football field. In the first round of playoffs, Groton Area played at EPJ on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
