Elementary playground to be fenced in

The Elk Point-Jefferson School Board began the new year discussing the elementary playground, bullying and the nursing home auction. Come spring, the elementary playground will be fenced in to separate it from the football field parking lot.

In local efforts to help raise money for new park equipment for Tower Park in Jefferson, Jefferson Beer Supply is participating in the TAGG program. TAGG – Together A Greater Good – is a program that connects nonprofits, businesses and consumers for mutual benefit.

The Dakota Valley girls varsity wrestlers ventured into Iowa territory on Monday, Jan. 9 for the West Sioux Invite in Hawarden. All wrestled hard and showed grit to bring home hardware from the competitive tournament.

Ten $1,000 scholarships now open to Midwest high school seniors

High school seniors from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin now have a chance to receive one of 10 college scholarships worth $1,000. Registration is open now through April 28. Parents are also now able to register their student.
