Andrew Tramp is a familiar name to those who live in Dakota Dunes as he’s been the Finance Officer for three years. Now, after the Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District (CID) Board of Supervisor’s meeting Monday, Dec.

The North Sioux City Two Rivers American Legion Post 319 members honored veterans buried at the McCook Cemetery and Civil Bend Cemetery Saturday, Dec. 16. The legion members did this by placing approximately 110 Christmas wreaths at gravesites.

At some point, the stress of the holidays can get to everyone. Whether it’s all the shopping for gifts, holiday baking, travelling or sometimes even the stress of having the family altogether – the holidays can be overwhelming for some individuals. Marissa Tuttle wished to remind everyone that it’s important to remember to make your own mental health a priority this holiday season.

After having to cancel the last couple years of the Annual Meatball and Lutefisk Dinner, the St. Paul Lutheran Church was able to celebrate the tradition once again. On Dec. 9, the church brought back the tradition after a hiatuses stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

For 30 years Kary Collette, of McCook Lake, and her family have set aside a special time for what they call their annual cookie day. It is a baking tradition that occurs during the holidays. This year they gathered on Sunday, Dec. 17. Goodies were made and more importantly fun times were had with family.

An annual tradition, the much loved “Cookies, Cocoa and Santa” event, took place at the North Sioux City Library on Thursday, Dec. 14. It was hosted by the library’s staff and ran from 10am to 6pm with Santa Claus making stops to visit children at 10:30am and 5pm.

The Dakota Valley School District’s Back to School Plan was reviewed at the Board of Education meeting Dec. 11. The plan, which was adopted on Aug. 9, 2021 has been reviewed and adopted at the end of every school semester since it’s first adoption.
