A celebration was held at 400 Gold Circle, in Dakota Dunes, SD, as Stifel celebrated their new location as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 31, 2025. Honoring 55 years as a Siouxland Chamber member, many gathered to show support for the company and also see their offices in suite 220 of the “Gold Circle Building”.

As we approach the start of a new school year, I’ve been reflecting on how much progress North Sioux City has made in just a few short months and how the decisions we make today will shape our future for generations to come. Two key projects are moving forward that will directly impact the safety, growth, and everyday life of our community, especially for families with children attending Dakota Valley Schools.

As the Panther community gears up for an unforgettable Homecoming 2025, school spirit will soar into the cosmos with this year’s theme: “Out of This World!” From September 1–5, students and families can expect an orbit of creativity, celebration, and DV pride.

A new face will be in the halls at Dakota Valley this upcoming school year as Garrett Schmidt steps into his role as superintendent for the Panthers. As they settle into the area, Schmidt is excited and thrilled to be at DV as is his wife and three children.

The Union County Board of Commissioners convened for their regular meeting on July 22, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at the courthouse in Elk Point. Commissioners Michael Dailey, Kevin Joffer, Peggy Ustad, Bob Ballard, and Tom Kimmel were present.

The North Sioux City Commission met Monday evening in City Hall, with Mayor Chris Bogenrief presiding over Commissioners Lynn Hoffman, Jessica Strain, and Vincent Tucker. Commissioner Julie Burhoop was absent. Also in attendance were City Administrator Jeff Dooley, Finance Officer Amy Lilly, and City Attorney Sarah Kleber.

Submitted The Union County Fair is back and better than ever, running from Thursday, July 31 through Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Union County Fairgrounds in Alcester. This beloved annual event brings together 4-Hers, families, farmers, and fairgoers for three days of fun, learning, and celebration.

A large crowd was gathered on the morning of Friday, July 18, 2025, in Dakota Dunes, to honor veterans Robert Irwin and Robert Ensurd. Centenarian Awards were presented to both of these brave heroes as Irwin celebrated his 100th birthday and Ensurd turned 95-years-old.
