Vocalists selected for Morningside arts festival

Recently several talented vocalists from Elk Point-Jefferson were selected to participate in the 2026 Morningside Vocal Arts Festival. This event, which takes place on January 11-12, 2026, allows the best high school singers in the tri-state area to come together and perform on the campus of Morningside University.

County eyes bridge grant

The Union County Board of Commissioners met Oct. 28 at the courthouse in Elk Point, approving staffing changes at the jail, holiday closures, and a bridge improvement grant application during a regular session attended by Commissioners Peggy Ustad, Michael Dailey and Robert Ballard.

Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve will host its annual “Christmas at the Homestead” celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, offering free family-friendly activities in a historic setting.

EPJ choirs perform movie hits at All-Choir Concert

Beautiful voices and plenty of musical talent was heard on Monday, October 20, 2025 in the middle school gym at Elk Point-Jefferson. The Huskies hosted an All-Choir Concert which began at 7 pm and included multiple soloists. Students were led by EPJ’s music director Katelyn Brunick.

Elk Point-Jefferson bands shine at March to the Meridian

Br ight and early on Saturday, October 11, 2025 high schoolers and middle schoolers in band, at Elk Point-Jefferson, traveled to Yankton, South Dakota. They were headed there for their final marching band competition of the season. The destination site was hosting the annual event known as March to the Meridian. The contest included many band programs from both South Dakota and Nebraska. There is a parade component with schools marching across the iconic Meridian Bridge.
