EPJ volleyball battles past SSC for match victory

Travel across the river into Nebraska occurred for the Elk Point-Jefferson volleyball team as they battled South Sioux City (SSC) on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Every set was close, but the Huskies left the Cornhusker state with a 3-1 match win.

Regular season play ended well for the Huskies in football as they trounced Sioux Valley by a score of 41-26 on Friday, October 17, 2025. This gives Elk Point-Jefferson an undefeated season for 2025 and plenty of momentum as they head into the postseason playoffs.

Fantastic regular season play had hopes high for the Panther varsity boys golf team as they headed to the Class A state meet on October 6-7, 2025. Epic rounds were observed on the Bluffs Golf Course, in Vermillion, as Dakota Valley persevered throughout the final holes to be crowned state champions for the 2nd year in a row.

Akin finishes 15th at 2025 State golf tournament

Ben Akin was the lone representative for the 2025 EPJ Boys’ Golf team at the South Dakota State Golf Meet, held October 6-7, at The Bluffs in Vermillion. This marked Akin’s third appearance at the state tournament, where he continued his steady rise up the leaderboard. Akin previously finished 44th in 2023 and 16th in 2024. This year, he climbed one more spot to place 15th overall.

An epic showdown took place in volleyball between Dakota Valley (DV) and Dell Rapids (DR) on Monday, October 6, 2025. The Panthers were hosts and both teams came in ranked at the top of Class A in South Dakota.

Panthers battle but fall short at West Central

A tough away game on October 10, 2025 meant Dakota Valley would be put to the test versus the Trojans of West Central. Playing in Hartford, South Dakota it was a true testament of competition as the Panthers worked through injuries and kept themselves very much in the football game versus a tough opponent.

DV runners shine at DAK XII, prep for regionals

Panther runners were in Canton on October 9, 2025 for the DAK XII Conference Meet. The toughest conference in Class A provided a fast field on the Hiawatha Golf Course where Dakota Valley and competitors all worked hard with fast starts and strong downhill finishes.

Hockey returns as Metros host Waterloo

The Sioux City Metros will open the 2025–26 hockey season on home ice Saturday, October 25, when they host the Waterloo Warriors at the IBP Ice Center, 3808 Stadium Drive. The Junior Varsity squad will take the ice at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Varsity matchup at 3:30 p.m.

DV dominates playoffs, earns spot in Class A final

Class A girls soccer playoffs for South Dakota started with round #1 play on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The Panthers were hosts to the Tanagers of Vermillion. Coming into the match, Dakota Valley (DV) was seeded #1 and Vermillion was #8. The Tanagers had already fallen twice to DV during the regular season.

The Huskies brought out the brooms on October 7, 2025 as they swept Viborg-Hurley 3-0 in their home match. It was a close 1st set with the Huskies prevailing 25-23. After that, EPJ ignited to barely allow Viborg-Hurley to reach double digits in scoring.
