Summer break might be in full swing for Dakota Valley Panthers, however the fall season is on a lot of people’s minds. Registrations for several school activities are currently open with families in the school district needing to be aware of deadlines.

During a recent election, schools that belong to the South Dakota High School Activities Association chose a new board member and gave their overwhelming support to an amendment that spells out how the organization will handle studentathletes that monetize their social media accounts.

Mammal Mania Summer Camp at Adams

Summer camp season has started at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve. The first camp, which occurred from June 11 to June 13, was called “Mammal Mania” and it was open to children ages 5, 6 or 7.

Food Trucks in the Park

Dakota Dunes residents gathered at the Prairie Park on Sunday, June 9 for the annual “Food Trucks in the Park” event hosted by the Dakota Dunes Community Association. Local vendors were on-hand to serve up 600 meals from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Jeff VanDenHul retires from Dakota Valley

Jeff VanDenHul, of McCook Lake, has been a mainstay at Dakota Valley as a teacher, coach, parent, fan and more. However, after over three decades with the district Van-DenHul is retiring and will be greatly missed.

NSC Library Summer reading kick-off party

It was a great day for the North Sioux City Community Library on Tuesday, June 4 as they kicked off their summer ready program with a big community party. Many attended and were able to play games, enjoy lunch, slide down water inflatables and eat snow cones.
