NSC council considers streaming meetings

The North Sioux City Council held its regular meeting on October 7, 2024, with Mayor Teel presiding. The meeting began promptly at 7:00 p.m. and was attended by several council members, City officials, and the City Attorney. The agenda for the meeting was amended to include a discussion on future council agenda items, which was approved unanimously.

Build Dakota Road Show at DV

The Build Dakota Road Show was in Panther territory on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Deni Martin came to Dakota Valley and spoke in the Performing Arts Center at 5 p.m. to those interested in learning more about growing a workforce and full-ride scholarship opportunities for high schoolers in South Dakota.

Dunes Fall Festival

The Dakota Dunes Homeowner’s Association (HOA) hosted its annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 6, 2024. In past years, the event took place on the tennis courts of the Dakota Dunes Country Club. However, this year, it was moved to Prairie Park. All in attendance appeared to enjoy the new venue and wonderful atmosphere.

SD librarians earn accreditation

The South Dakota State Library awarded certification to 38 librarians from 27 libraries at the annual South Dakota Library Association conference on Sept. 26 in Aberdeen, S.D. The voluntary certification program recognizes library directors and staff who have met certain certification standards.

Ustad appointed to County Board

The Union County Board of Commissioners convened for their regular session on October 1, 2024, at the Courthouse in Elk Point. The meeting commenced at 8:30 a.m. and was attended by board members Michael Dailey, Kevin Joffer, Richard Headid, Peggy Ustad, and Tom Kimmel.

DV school board approves annual budget

The Dakota Valley School District held its regular Board of Education meeting on September 9, 2024, at the Dakota Valley Board Room. The meeting commenced at 6:00 pm, and Chairperson Steve Kistner called the session to order. The roll call indicated the presence of members Jeff Dooley, Steve Kistner, Andrew Nilges, Emily Norby, and Matt Thompson. Both administrators, Dr. Tonia Warzecha and Business Manager Jill Sponder, were also in attendance.

Council discusses liability insurance

The City Council of North Sioux City held a special meeting on September 26, 2024. The meeting commenced at 7:00 p.m. and was called to order by Mayor Patricia Teel. Council members Kodi Benson, Gary Bogenrief, Jim Christenson, Bob Davis, Lonnie Green, Lynn Hoffman, Greg Meyer, and Joan Christiansen attended. Also in attendance were City Finance Officer Amy Lilly and City Attorney Sarah Kleber.
