New restaurant opens in North Sioux City

Betsworth takes 1st place

The Panther girls golf team was at Beresford on Tuesday, April 9 for the first meet of the season. Dakota Valley scored well with 8th grader Katie Betsworth taking 1st place individually and the varsity team placing 3rd out of the 5 schools in attendance.

Dakota Valley Baseball run rules two opponents

At home on Monday, April 6 the Panther baseball team played 6 innings on their way to a victory. Thanks to the 10 run rule and strong offense by Dakota Valley, they defeated the Beresford/Alcester-Hudson (BAH) Black Sox by a score of 13-3.

Panther softball falls to Tea Titans

Dakota Valley softball had to travel on Friday, April 12 to take on the Titans in a competitive match-up at the Tea softball complex. Leadoff hits by senior Silja Gunderson and sophomore Mia Riibe started the away game, but the Panthers failed to score in their 1st at-bat.

Munch breaks DV School record at Homer, girls team gets gold

The Panther track and field teams had a couple of good meets during the second week of April. The girls team were crowned champions at the Homer Invite, in Nebraska, on April 11 and the boys squad claimed 3rd place team honors. Then on Saturday, April 13 multiple Panthers brought home top finishes from the Sioux City Relays.

Dakota Valley Panthers attend FBLA state conference

Five Panther high school students competed in Sioux Falls, on April 7-9, at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) state conference. It was a wonderful experience for all of the Panthers who were accompanied by Dakota Valley business teacher and FBLA advisor Justine Sponder.

EPJ implements policy on Artificial Intelligence

With the ever present advancements in technology, educators need to be more aware of ways it can hinder teaching practices. The Elk Point-Jefferson School Board discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at their meeting March 11 and approved their final reading of Policy IIBFA: Use Of Artificial Intelligence Technology on April 8.

NSC city council winners

North Sioux City held their municipal election on April 9 at the North Sioux City Community Center. The polls were busy all day as 614 residents turned out to cast a vote in their respective wards. The unofficial results were released after voting closed at 7 p.m. with the counting completed that evening.
