Horizon Health Care recognized for expanding family planning services

Horizon Health Care received the Partner in Health Award from the South Dakota Department of Health, particularly for their efforts surrounding Family Planning. Horizon’s Family Planning Program services include pregnancy testing, education, counseling and screenings to provide patients with personalized care while growing a family.

Jefferson Ambulance partners with Avel eCare

Due to a newly funded program through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and South Dakota general fund dollars, the Jefferson Ambulance will receive new equipment. Through the grant and funds granted by Governor Kristi Noem, a total $1.7 million are available to ambulance services across the state. On April 26, the Jefferson Ambulance will receive Telemedicine in Motion through Avel eCare.

Trying new things leads to a passion of sports

Growing up on horseback and very little passion for sports, Jacki Waldner found that passion in her adult life thanks to another friend. “One of my friends at my church actually mentioned that she was trying out for a football thing,” Waldner explained.

PUC settles MidAmerican Energy’s request

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, after final deliberation, approved a settlement stipulation for MidAmerican Energy Co. to increase rates for natural gas service to customers in its South Dakota retail service territory at their regular meeting, March 28.

The track squad for Dakota Valley looks to be strong this season with many returning letter winners. Strong finishes at last year’s state meet in Sioux Falls have many excited for the track and field season to begin.

Dakota Valley Science Olympiad brings home hardware

Science students in grades sixth-ninth showcased their knowledge in Science Olympiad on Saturday, March 25. The all-day event for South Dakota schools took place at the University of South Dakota and Vermillion High School. Dakota Valley won many honors. The team is coached by Eighth Grade Career Exploration teacher Amanda Vande Vegte and Sixth Grade Science instructor Lynda Grasso.
