Away games were on the schedule for the Panther boys basketball team as they shut the door on the month of January. Dakota Valley traveled to Sioux Falls Christian (SFC) on Thursday, January 29, 2026 to face a strong Charger squad.

One of the largest home crowds ever for Dakota Valley wrestling was at the Panther’s triangular on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Many attended to watch DV earn a team dual win over Vermillion and put up a strong effort versus an excellent West Central (WC) Trojans roster. It was also senior night as the team, and fans, celebrated 12th graders Bennett Lukken and Cooper Bernard who have been wrestling for DV for many seasons.

Facing a top ranked Sioux Falls Christian (SFC) girls basketball team proved a hard test for the Panthers on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Dakota Valley went on the road to play the SFC Chargers who are top ranked in Class A for South Dakota.

The 1st game in a busy basketball week for the Panther girls was on January 20, 2026 versus Lennox. It was a home contest and a match-up against a top ranked regional and conference opponent. Down 0-7 early, Dakota Valley broke past the Orioles and their full court pressure to garner a hoop.

Grapplers roll through duals, place two at DAK-XII

Tons of wrestling competition greeted Dakota Valley from January 2024, 2026 as multiple duals and a conference tournament happened. The Panthers performed well and Coach Grayson Pirner was happy with the effort given by all of his athletes. Back-to-back games did not happen for the Dakota Valley boys basketball team, as wind chill temperatures canceled school and activities on January 23, 2026. The Panthers were supposed to face the Mustangs of Tri-Valley in Colton, South Dakota. However, that contest is postponed with a make-up date still to be determined.

Big turnout for EPJ youth wrestling meet

Approximately 200 youth wrestlers were in Elk Point on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The Huskies hosted their an‑nual tournament for athletes in preschool through 6th grade. Grapplers from South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska were observed in the gymnasium.
