DV goes undefeated wins Class A title

School history was made by Dakota Valley as they went undefeated at the Class A state softball tournament on June 4-6, 2026. The Panthers claimed a championship title for the 1st time since softball became a sanctioned high school sport, in 2023, in South Dakota. Quality preparation, strong senior class leadership and incredible team chemistry helped aid Dakota Valley (DV) on their way to being crowned the 2026 Class A softball champions in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

DV Legion ball opens summer with extra‑inning thriller

Four close games started the summer legion baseball season for Dakota Valley. One run determined each contest on Friday, June 5, 2026 as the Panthers battled Hartington and Renner Post 307. Dakota Valley (DV) played again on Saturday, June 6, versus Parkston and Seward, Nebraska where they were dealt losses.

Betsworth is state champion, Panthers earn runner‑up

An individual state champion and runner-up team finish was in store for the Dakota Valley girls golf team at the Class A golf meet on June 1-2, 2026. Katie Betsworth performed on the links, as she has done all season, to take the 2026 Class A title with an incredible score of 138. This had her at -2 under par over the course of 2 rounds.

DV girls make historic third‑place finish at state

The Panther track and field team had an incredible showing at the state meet on May 28-30, 2026. Dakota Valley girls placed high as a team with multiple individuals and relay squads making it on the podium. The top 8 placings at state earned points for the roster in the overall standings and achieved medals. The 2026 state track and field meet took place in Sioux Falls at Howard Wood Stadium.

DV makes deep state run before semifinal loss

Close games and incredible memories happened at the Class B boys state baseball tournament on May 25-26, 2026 in Brookings, South Dakota. The Panthers worked hard in the field and at the plate to make it to the final four rosters standing in a competitive field. A first round win over Lennox extended the Panther’s stay in the state tourney. However, a 0-1 loss, the next day had them just short of the state finals.

Panthers power into state with SODAK 16 win

A decisive victory was claimed by the Dakota Valley softball team over Ethan/Parkston on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in the SODAK 16 state qualifier. The Panthers hosted the contest as they were the #3 seed and Ethan/Parkston (EP) was ranked #14 in Class A for South Dakota.

NSC Phoenix ready for summer play

North Sioux City is home to an amateur baseball team as the roster for the North Sioux Phoenix takes to the ball field this summer. Head coached by Jay Thaler, players include a lot of alumni from the local area.

Panthers shine through rain with resilient road wins

The Panther varsity softball team played an away game, at Sanford Diamonds, versus Sioux Falls Christian (SFC) on Monday, May 18, 2026 in cold and rainy conditions. Weather played a factor, but big innings of offense in the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th innings had Dakota Valley (DV) holding on to win 19-16.

DV advances to Class B state tournament

Big wins on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 meant that the Panther baseball team would make a return trip to the Class B state tournament. The victories came over Beresford Area and Freeman/Canistota/Marion (FCM) in regional play. Dakota Valley (DV) was a #3 seed in the “South Super Regional”. They took down #6 Beresford and #2 FCM to advance. Rob Augustine, the Panther’s head baseball coach, is happy to see his squad be a championship contender.

Panthers claim runner‑up, punch ticket to state

Competition was solid for the Region 2A girls golf contest held at Hiawatha Golf Club, in Canton, on May 21, 2026. Dakota Valley (DV) represented well to be team runner-up at the event. This finish punched the DV roster’s ticket to the upcoming state golf meet on June 1-2, 2026.
