Five EPJ grapplers place at Wagner Invite

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies travelled to Wagner on Jan. 27 to participate in the Wagner Invite against 15 other teams. Five Huskies found themselves with podium finishes at the invite – Luke Swatek (126), Owen Rigg (132), Caleb Heuertz (175), Keaton Hinds (215) and Ruben Chicoine (285).

Girls bring season record to 9-3 after 3 wins last week

Winter weather delayed the Panther girls original basketball match-up versus the West Central Trojans. Both teams were supposed to square off on Jan. 9, but Mother Nature had other ideas. For the rescheduled date, it was a close 1st half on Monday, Jan 15. After 2 tight quarters the Panthers led 31-27.

EPJ Youth Wrestling tournament held

Over 150 youth wrestlers came to Elk Point on Sunday, Jan. 21 for the Elk Point-Jefferson Youth Wrestling Tournament. It was a round robin format with multiple weight classes and age divisions. Boys and girls from preschool through grade school showed strength and grit on the mats throughout the entire event.

Huskies hit the mats at DAK-XII conference tourney

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies travelled to Howard on Jan. 19 to compete on the mats for the first time this year. Weather postponed and cancelled many matches throughout the first half of January, but finally Mother Nature cooperated enough for the Huskies to compete once again.

Elk Point-Jefferson huskies struggle in second half of games

The Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team faced Canistota on Jan. 2 and Dell Rapids on Jan. 6. Both games were full of fierce play, but the Huskies downfall was their offensive play in the second half of both games.
