Lady Huskies handed tough loss in regionals

Regionals started for the Elk Point-Jefferson girls basketball team on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The Huskies were the #4 seed in a highly competitive region, and they were to take on #5 Lennox. A battle was guaranteed as both teams came into the contest with strong regular season records.

An incredible day was had by the Elk Point-Jefferson wrestling squad as they competed at the Region 2B tournament on Saturday, February 22, 2025. McCook Central School District was the host for this year’s regional competition. 

The top 4 wrestlers in each weight bracket qualified for the 2025 state tournament. Six Huskies punched their ticket to extend their season. They were: Kamryn Dice, Luke Swatek, Owen Rigg, Hayes Johnson, Caleb Heuertz and Gunner Ewing.

Many Huskies flooded Dakota Valley on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 for the wrestling team’s high school dual. It was the last regular season meet for Elk Point-Jefferson and they brought along their youth club program so plenty of grapplers saw mat time.

The Watchdogs of Beresford came to town on Friday, February 14, 2025 for a boys home basketball contest with the Huskies. It was a game where Elk Point-Jefferson took care of the ball on offense and played good defense throughout each quarter to get the win. The final score was 56-46 with the Huskies on top.

The Huskies continued to play strong basketball as the girls varsity team took on a dynamic Nebraska team from Crofton on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Crofton was the Nebraska C2 state runner-up for the 2023/24 season.
