Doris I. (Gunderson) Shadbolt, age 93, of North Sioux City, South Dakota passed away at her home on Friday, January 2, 2026. Funeral service was on, January 7, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point with Pastor Erik Olson officiating. Burial was in Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Visitation with family present was from 5:30 p.m., to 6:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2026 all at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Richard M. Folsom, 71, of Sioux Valley Township, South Dakota, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, after a battle with cancer.

Ronald Eugene Massey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 92 in Edmonds, Washington. Ron was born on March 28, 1933, to Lorren and Mildred Massey in rural Jefferson, South Dakota.

Alta Lucile Rosenbaum passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Charter Senior Living in Sioux City, Iowa. She was born to Merlin and Ida (Armstrong) Sawtell on August 17, 1930 in rural Dixon County Nebraska. Her siblings included her older brother, Dale and a younger brother, Leland. Her elder sister, Lily, died of crib death in 1928.

Else Svanholm Host Englund, age 93, of Beresford, SD, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Ava’s House, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 24, at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion, with Pastor Kwen Sanderson and Pastor Martha Atkins officiating.

Lance Penfield, age 62, passed away on October 13, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services took place on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m.

James Thomas Ekren, born June 30, 1947, in Akron, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 77. He was raised on his family’s farm south of Alcester, South Dakota, where he attended Nora Country School and graduated from Alcester High School in 1966.
