Virginia B. Parmelee, 88 of Sioux City, IA passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life was held 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Sioux City Elks Club. James Alden Cody (“Cody”), former Elk Point and Vermillion resident, died on March 20, 2024 at Charter North Park Senior Living in Sioux City, IA. Many know Jim from his years as the owner and chef of Cody’s Homestead restaurant in Elk Point, SD.

Kimberly Kay (Trausch) Kelling, aged 66, of Sioux City, IA, passed away on January 6, 2024 in Omaha, NE following a long illness. Kim was born on June 21, 1957 in Fort Dodge, IA. She grew up on a farm in rural Eagle Grove and attended Eagle Grove schools. In the 1970s she and her husband Rodney moved to California, where they spent many years. After the birth of their first child, Lauren, they moved to McCook Lake, SD to begin raising their family. The birth of their second child, David, followed soon after.

Margaret “Peg” A. (Bosse) Dailey, 84, of Jefferson, SD, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

Gary Lee Gagner, age 85, went to the arms of Our Lord in the early hours of January 12, 2024. Born in Jefferson, SD on Sept. 11, 1938 to John Emery Gagner and Dorothy (Hoffman) Gagner; he was the eldest of their five children. Having moved to California, he met and married Dolores (Dee) Nowicki in 1960. They had two children, Michael Gagner (Elizabeth) of Owasso, OK and Michelle Gagner of Bakersfield.

Gerald “Jerry” Clarence Kavanaugh

Gerald “Jerry” Clarence Kavanaugh, age 82, of Basehor, KS passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m., both on Thursday, Feb. 29 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor. Burial followed in the Holy Angels Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the DAV – Disabled American Veterans, or the Holy Angels Parish “Guarding Angels Fund”

Dennis Neal Shadbolt, 64, of Sioux City, IA passed away of cancer at his home on Friday, February 16, 2024. Dennis was born in Pierre, SD on July 7, 1959 to Marvin (Bud) Shadbolt and Doris Shadbolt.

Kenneth B. Mouw

Kenneth B. Mouw of Elk Point, South Dakota died at home on February 13, 2024, of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis after being cared for by his wife for the past months. He was born to Bernard and Marie Mouw on the Mouw family homestead west of Sioux Center on Nov. 27, 1944. The family later moved to a farm south of Boyden where he attended country school and graduated from Floyd Valley High School in 1962.

Rachel R. Starr, 88 of Sioux Falls, passed away peacefully at Sanford USD Medical Center on Tuesday, Jan.
